Hydroponic lettuce in white troughs with blue valves and tubing in greenhouse rows

UCNFA Summer Issue 2026

In the Summer 2026 issue of the UCNFA Newsletter, the Featured Article provides interviews with three long term fixtures in Florida’s tree grades and standards program as momentum builds around similar efforts in California. The first article in Science to the Grower explains how to measure evapotranspiration (ET) and use ET values in greenhouse settings. Our second article in Science to the Grower explains how supplemental lighting can improve crop uniformity and shorten production cycles. In the Get Cultured section, the article describes best management practices around using controlled release fertilizers in container plant production. A Research Update on optimizing nutrient concentrations in vegetable transplant production is presented. We have two Regional Advisor Reports: the first describes a new aloe pest in Ventura, San Diego, and Santa Barbara counties and the second highlights what one Advisor learned while visiting other Advisors in Southern California. And lastly, please take 2-3 minutes of your time to fill out a survey so we can deliver content that you want to read in a format that works best for you.
